Beadsman's fingers

generally a pensioner or almsman whose duty it was to pray for his benefactor. In Scotland there were public almsmen supported by the king and expected in return to pray for his welfare and that of the state. These men wore long blue gowns with a pewter badge on the right arm, and were nicknamed Blue Gowns. Their number corresponded to the king's years, an extra one being added each royal birthday. They were privileged to ask alms throughout Scotland. On the king's birthday each bedesman received a new blue gown, a loaf, a bottle of ale, and a leathern purse containing a penny for every year of the king's life. On the pewter badge which they wore were their name and the words "pass and repass," which authorized them to ask alms. In 1833 the appointment of bedesmen was stopped. In 1863 the last payment was paid to a bedesman. In consequence of its use in this general sense of pensioner, "bedesman" was long used in English as equivalent to "servant." The word had a special sense as the name for those almsmen attached to cathedral and other churches, whose duty it was to pray for the souls of deceased benefactors. A relic of pre-Reformation times, these old men still figure in the accounts of English cathedrals
ST. AGNES’ Eve—Ah, bitter chill it was!
The owl, for all his feathers, was a-cold;
The hare limp’d trembling through the frozen grass,
And silent was the flock in woolly fold:
Numb were the Beadsman’s fingers, while he told 5
His rosary, and while his frosted breath,
Like pious incense from a censer old,
Seem’d taking flight for heaven, without a death,
Past the sweet Virgin’s picture, while his prayer he saith.

His prayer he saith, this patient, holy man; 10
Then takes his lamp, and riseth from his knees,
And back returneth, meagre, barefoot, wan,
Along the chapel aisle by slow degrees:
The sculptur’d dead, on each side, seem to freeze,
Emprison’d in black, purgatorial rails: 15
Knights, ladies, praying in dumb orat’ries,
He passeth by; and his weak spirit fails
To think how they may ache in icy hoods and mails.

The sky turned gray as I stood on the hill The smell of violence and the smell of kill The sound of horror and terrified screaming It is the only place the sunýs not beaming A place of swings where no children will play For I stand by the graveyard to where they most lay I see drunks lay all over the alley And the ambulance is down in the valley Poor children living a life of violence With horrifying homes filled with silence Violent blood shattered on the street And a child who lay there that has been beat In fear of their parents I hear children crying Living in a valley that is somehow dying I see the blood on the walls in the alley And the ambulance is down in the valley The sun wonýt shine in a place of horror The children cry and the parents beat more Living in a family with a father who's a drunk And a mother who smokes dope and a lot of junk The hospital is full of children bruised And many are still home being abused I see shadows of death in the alley And the ambulance is down in the valley The graveyard is full and there will be many more If the abused do not stop in this horror Rain pours down from all the tears That God sheds for peopleýs fears Defenseless children can not play For in their abusive homes is where they must stay I see a place of horror and a lonely alley And the ambulance is down in the valley I see a cry for help throughout the place And fear from a childýs terrified face At nighttime the moon is gray Like a horror movie I saw one day A poor child who doesnýt own a toy Because the parents wonýt buy for the little boy I still see loneliness in that alley And the ambulance is down in the valley Careless children, fresh as sin And some have forgotten how to grin Children suffer, deliberately burned and bruised From poor parents who themselves were abused And violent anger on their mind Makes them beat on any child they can find A pool of blood lay in the alley And the ambulance is down in the valley The abuse is increasing day by day The valley full of pain and the sky still gray A little child in a corner is what I find And visions of the abuse still haunts her mind Seventy percent of children are abused every day The parents get upset and the children pay Horrified children and a lonely alley And the ambulance is down in the valley In the 1960ýs abuse was first identified And since then many children has died Blood in the valley and a child in pain Somehow this world has gone insane Nobody will help or try to prevent the abuse No one deserves this; there is no excuse In the village by the alley The ambulance is down in the valley The pain and suffering have gotten out of hand The poor children can not even stand Some in wheel chairs and some in a cast And some just trying to forget about the past Some do not know how love would feel Some scarred for life that will never heal Screaming, yelling, the sight of the alley And the ambulance is down in the valley One story that is so sad Is when a stepmother got so mad The children could not tie their laces And fear poured out from their terrified faces She beat them till the blood ran free I am just glad this never happened to me The children and their visions of the alley The ambulance is down in the valley Think of all the problems the world must face So please stop the abuse in this horrible place Poor children who may never see What a wonderful place this could be What I am trying to say is think of their pain Do not think of your problems and complain Unless you have visions of the alley Because the Ambulance is still down in the valley ( --------------------------------------------------- ItHIS SHOT FOR THE POOR CHILDREN ALL OVER THE WORLD ----------------- WE MUST GIVE THEM A HELP AND A BIG SMILE, -------------- THEY NEED US ---WE NEED THEM...

Crown of Thorns

On their way that morning to their destinations. Some for jobs, some for home, and some for celebrations. 266 souls were taken away. This was all done within a few hours of this day. Lasting of course a lifetime, by this horrific crime. Looking into the innocent eyes of my children, I see their hopes and dreams coming to despair. Protect them, I cannot, against the war that has been declared. The tears I cry, When asked "mummy why?" My heart aches, For I have no reply. -------------------------------- (BY Suzana Dox) ----------------------------------- for the victims 11 september... those thorns pain my heart when i remember this day... ----------------- Crown of Thorns

Angels's Tears

I dreamed upon an Angel Sweet So distraught and sad She said her family's sorrow Was making her feel bad I know they feel the emptiness They wish that I were there, And I am truly touched by this... I know how much they care The Angel looked up through her Tears She said it breaks my heart To know my familys hurting so& Their lives are torn apart. I really love them all so much They mean the world to me Id like to tell them I'm okay& If they could only see..." I'd seen this Angel's face before, It was our Precious Child Shining Bright through Jesus' Light So strong, yet meek and mild The lessons to be learned, She said Are waiting there on Earth And how we choose to live our lives Determines our true worth And then, when God decides it's time to bring us Home again He welcomes us with open arms In Heaven, new Life begins Your lives should all go on, She said There's so much you can do To make the world a better place Through all you say and do My death is not a final thing, It does not mean the end As life goes on for me, you see Your souls begin to mend" I wish you only happiness Dont think that I am gone Youll see me in the bright new day That comes with every dawn I want to help you dry your eyes, Remember me, and smile Please honor me with happiness and make today worthwhile Heaven is such a perfect place Where everything is good If I could send a picture home, I'm sure you know I would I loved the life I had on Earth I know that I was blessed, But Heaven is more beautiful Than I'd have ever guessed... I've heard that tears can heal the heart And lift the heaviness So I am shedding Angel tears To make your burden less Your love was carried with my soul The day I went away And it will always stay with me, Forever and a day. -------------------- i discover the internet ..and i found this great poem.. Aphrodite the Beauty

in Greek religion and mythology, goddess of fertility, love, and beauty. Homer designated her the child of Zeus and Dione. Hesiod's account of her birth is more popular: she supposedly rose from the foam of the sea where Uranus' genitals had fallen after he had been mutilated by Kronos. Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus. She loved Ares, by whom she bore Harmonia and, in some myths, Eros and Anteros. She was the mother of Hermaphroditus by Hermes and of Priapus by Dionysus. Zeus caused her to love the shepherd Anchises, by whom she bore Aeneas. Adonis, in whose legend Aphrodite appears as a goddess of fertility, also won her favors. It was to Aphrodite that Paris awarded the apple of discord, which caused the dispute leading ultimately to the Trojan War. Worshiped throughout Greece, she was the goddess of love, marriage, and family life; she was also worshiped as a war goddess, as at Sparta, and as a sea goddess and patroness of sailors. Aphrodite had important cults at Cythera on Crete, at Paphos and Amathas on Cyprus, at Corinth, and at Mt. Eryx in Sicily. Probably of Eastern origin, she was similar in many of her attributes to the ancient Middle Eastern goddesses Astarte and Ishtar. The Romans identified Aphrodite with Venus. -------------------------------- everything here is exactly this shot

What would you do?

What would you do if every time you wanted someone they would never be there? What would you do if for every moment you were truly happy there would be 10 moments of sadness? What would you do if your best friend died tomorrow and you never got to tell them how you felt? So, I just wanted to say, even if I never talk to you again in my life, you are special to me and you have made a difference in my life. I look up to you, respect you, and truly cherish you. Send this to all your friends, no matter how often you talk, or how close you are, and send it to the person who sent it to you. Let old friends know you haven't forgotten them, and tell new friends you never will. Remember, everyone needs a friend, someday you might feel like you have NO FRIENDS at all, just remember this e-mail and take comfort in knowing somebody out there cares about you and always will. In times of trouble, In times of need, If you are feeling SAD, You can count on me. I will give you a wink, Until you smile, Give you a hug, And stand by your side. I'll be there for you till the end, I'll always and forever, be your friend! It's true, sometimes we forget to tell our special people that we love them. ------------------ I shall give you my sun. This poster is special for Londie Benson (she wrote this wonderful poem)

Moments for Two

somewhere on internet i saw this wonderful letter... after this letter i done this shot...
Dear Jemima,

It's been years since the last time I saw your face. I had seen so many moons and sunsets but still no trace of your smile. My heart longed for you as the flowers longed for the rain. What have you been doing now? I hope you still remember the way I called your name back then. There are so many things that I can't forget about you. The way you comb your hair in the beautiful daylight, the way you speak, the way you swear, the way you walk and from this I must say ... I love everything about you. I wish I could be there where you are right now. To hold you and tell the very secret that my soul kept inside up to now - that I love you. This is my purpose in life ... to protect you and give all the very best for you. As I write this letter, I can almost feel you beside me.

Last night, in my dreams, I saw your face. You are so beautiful. You were standing at the beach and the wind was blowing through your hair. Your face is a vision I think I could never find in anyone else. Then I started to reach you but as soon as I'm getting nearer to you ... You were fading away and I couldn't do anything about it ... I started to bow my head and began crying but then I heard your voice calling out to me ... As you were fading away, I find myself remembering everything about those beautiful moments ... moments with you.

I always dream of you this way ... And as the days passes by, my love for you will never go, it grows stronger and deeper in the depths of my heart. Please don't ask me why do still long for you ... for there's no one else but you that this heart of mine would love forever. My heart will always belong to you and all my love I send to you.

You are my heart, you are my life, you are my smile, you are my world... and you are my love.

Love Always,

Many cameras have a built in flash which can be used in more creative ways than you may think.
The flash, found on the front panel of a compact camera or as a pop-up unit on top of the SLRs viewfinder, is used to supply illumination when the ambient lighting conditions drop below a certain level. This level is determined by the cameras exposure meter and most cameras will automatically activate the flash when they think it is necessary. This is usually when the shutter speed falls below a safe speed to handhold the camera, which could result in camera shake. A shutter speed of 1/30sec or slower is usually the cut off point. Some of the more sophisticated models will also detect when a subject is surrounded by light - a person backlit, for example, and will fire flash when it would normally not be necessary. The flash light would then illuminate the darker areas by providing whats commonly known as fill-in flash.
You can, however, be more creative and select from a range of flash modes to override the automated settings. These override modes include flash on, flash off, red-eye reduction and slow sync or night scene modes.

Messenger of Love

The Psyche was the Greek concept of the self, encompassing the modern ideas of Soul, Self and Mind. The Greeks believed that the mind, soul or "psyche" was responsible for behaviour. --------------------------------------- In legend According to legend, Psyche was immortalised by Apuleius in his Metamorphoses (commonly known as The Golden Ass). She was the youngest and prettiest of King Anatolia's three daughters. Aphrodite, jealous of her beauty, sent her son, Eros (Cupid) to strike her with a rusty golden arrow, which would make her fall in love with the worst man and ruin her. Instead, Eros fell in love with her and shot the arrow into the sea. When she fell asleep, Eros took her to his palace. Aphrodite, irritated, allowed Eros to visit her every night, but would not let her see his face. One night, out of curiosity, Psyche decided to light a lamp. A drop of hot oil from this lamp fell on Eros, who was dozing nearby. He woke up and fled. Aphrodite made Psyche complete a number of almost impossible tasks, then made her immortal and allowed her to live forever with her love, Eros, but her psyche became separate from her psychical body. ------------------------------------------ Since Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love, her sacred flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages. Greek men would often plant an iris on the graves of their beloved women as a tribute to the goddess Iris, whose duty it was to take the souls of women to the Elysian fields. ------------------------------------------------- print who can decorate any wall ..(office, home, cafe bar, ...etc)

Christmas Rose

A Rose has sprung from a tender root, From Jesus, as those of old have sung, And it bore a flower, in the middle of a cold winter, When helf spent was the night. Isaiah foretold it, the Rose I have in mind; Is Mary the pure, the little flower has brought us. From God's eternal wisdon, she bore a child, And remained pure. The Flower, so small, whose sweet fragrance fills the air, Dispels with glorious splendor the darkness everywhere; True man and truer God, helps us out of all sorrows, Saves from sin and death. Oh Jesus, until we leave this misery, Let your help guide us into joy, In Your Father's Kingdon, where we eternally praise You. Oh God, allow us this. ------------------------------------------------- Translated from the early 15th century German poem "Es ist ein Ros' Entsprungen." Author unknown. The music is from the Alte Katholische Geistliche Kirchengesäng, 1599 (Old Catholic Spiritual Church Songs) -------------------------------------- Maybe the christmas rose is different than mine but i want this rose to be my christmas rose ------------------------------------------------------ somewhere i read this lovely poem... for everybody who beleive in the christmas rose .................................................... SANTA'S SECRET WISH --------------- On Christmas Eve, a young boy with light in his eyes, Looked deep into Santa's, to Santa's surprise, And said as he nestled on Santa's broad knee, "I want your secret, tell it to me." He leaned up & whispered in Santa's good ear, "How do you do it, year after year?" "I want to know how, as you travel about, Giving gifts here & there, you never run out. How is it, dear Santa, that in your pack of toys, You have plenty for all of the world's girls & boys? Stays so full, never empties as you make your way From rooftop to rooftop, to homes large & small, From nation to nation, reaching them all? And Santa smiled kindly & said to the boy, "Don't ask me hard questions. Don't you want a toy?" But the child shook his head, and Santa could see That he needed the answer. "Now listen to me," He told the small boy with the light in his eyes, "My secret will make you sadder & wise. "The truth is that my sack is magic. Inside It holds millions of toys for my Christmas Eve ride. But although I do visit each girl & each boy I don't always leave them a gaily wrapped toy. Some homes are hungry, some homes are sad. Some homes are desperate, some homes are bad. Some homes are broken, & children there grieve. Those homes I visit, but what should I leave? "My sleigh is filled with the happiest stuff, But for homes where despair lives, toys aren't enough. So I tiptoe in, kiss each girl & boy, And pray with them that they'll be given the joy Of the spirit of Christmas, the spirit that lives In the heart of the dear child who gets not, but gives. If only God hears me & answers my prayer, When I visit next year, what I will find there Are homes filled with peace, and with giving, and love And boys and girls gifted with light from above. It's a very had task, my smart little brother, To give toys to some, and to give prayers to others. But the prayers are the best gifts, the best gifts indeed, For God has a way of meeting each need. "That's part of the answer. The rest, my dear youth, Is that my sack is magic, And that is the truth. In my sack I carry on Christmas Eve day More love than a Santa could e'er give away. The sack never empties of love, or of joys 'Cause inside it are prayers, and hopes. Not just toys. The more that I give, the fuller it seems, Because giving is my way of fulfilling dreams. "And do you know something? You've got a sack, too. It's as magic as mine, and it's inside of you. It never gets empty, it's full from the start. It's the centre of lights, and of love. It's your heart. And if on this Christmas you want to help me, Don't be so concerned with your gifts 'neath your tree. Open that sack, call your heart, & share Your joy, your friendship, your wealth, your care." The light in the small boy's eyes was glowing. "Thanks for the secret. I've got to be going." "Wait, little boy," said Santa "don't go. Will you share? Will you help? Will you use what you know?" And just for a moment the small boy stood still, Touched his heart with his small hand & whispered, "I will.

My gallery from my stock photography

One of the things I love about digital photography is the freedom to take as many pictures as I like. This has helped me develop my photographic eye. I particarly like to take photos of the small things around us - sometimes we overlook the beauty just out of sight. I'm beginning to see the world in different ways and this is the point .My images have been used in many places - over the internet, and published in magazines; used as the basis for artists paintings and in government publications, in stock photography and portfolios.

Sitting by the fire

Nature shot fallen leafs looks like a fire...\( Barren Age and withered World! Oh! the dying leaves, Like a drizzling rain, Falling round the roof -- Pattering on the pane! Frosty Age and cold, cold World! Ghosts of other days, Trooping past the faded fire, Flit before the gaze. Now the wind goes soughing wild O'er the whistling Earth; And we front a feeble flame, Sitting round the hearth! Sitting by the fire, Watching in its glow, Ghosts of other days Trooping to and fro. Bronzed By last summers breath Last golden leaf Drifts to your feet Calling Go now. Last sun ray Caressing your feathers Fades away Uttering Follow me.)

Time is very important ..still life shot with business objects some notes:(he clock is one of the oldest human inventions, requiring a physical process that will proceed at a known rate and a way to gauge how long that process has run. As the seasons and the phases of the moon can be used to measure the passage of longer periods of time, shorter processes had to be used to measure off hours and minutes. The sundial, which measures the time of day by the direction of shadows cast by the sun, was widely known in ancient times.) he rise of railroading during the last half of the 19th century led to the widespread use of pocket watches. Because of the likelihood of train wrecks and other accidents if all railroad workers did not accurately know the current time, pocket watches became required equipment for all railroad workers. In the American Sci-Fi TV series Voyagers! the time travel device known as an 'omni' looks like a pocket watch to disguise it. (LIMIT EDITION print)

Love Always

Literary form that developed in the aristocratic courts of mid-12th-century France and had its heyday in France and Germany between the mid-12th and mid-13th century in the works of such masters as Chrétien de Troyes and Gottfried von Strassburg. The staple subject matter is chivalric adventure (see chivalry), though love stories and religious allegories are sometimes interwoven. Most romances draw their plots from classical history and legend, Arthurian legend, and the adventures of Charlemagne and his knights. Written in the vernacular, they share a taste for the exotic, the remote, and the miraculous. Lingering echoes of the form can be found in later centuries, as in the Romanticism of the 18th19th century and today's popular romantic novels. You taught me how to love like I have never loved before. You taught me that I was special and that I deserved all the world's greatness. You taught me that I was truly an angel, and that there are people out there worthy of my love. Then you taught me that love doesn't last forever and that those you love can lie. Now I sit here and think to myself...why did I let myself be with you and why did I let you teach me those things, because without you in my life I will never feel that way again. Why did I let you hurt me? Love Always

sweet memories

red rose and vintage postcards.. some notes...... The rose has always been valued for its beauty and fragrance and has a long history of symbolism and meaning. The ancient Greeks and Romans identified the rose with their goddesses of love (Aphrodite and Venus). In Rome a wild rose would be placed on the door of a room where confidential matters were discussed. The phrase sub rosa, or "under the rose", means to keep a secretderived from this ancient Roman practice. According to the Victorian "Language of flowers", different coloured roses each have their own symbolic meaning: * Red: love * Pink: grace, lesser feelings of love * Dark Pink: gratitude * Light Pink: admiration, sympathy * White: innocence, purity, secrecy, friendship, reverence and humility. n some pagan mythologies, no undead or ghostly creatures (particularly vampires) may cross the path of a wild rose. It was thought that to place a wild rose on a coffin of a recently deceased person would prevent them from rising again.
